Your pearly whites undergo a lot of wear and tear over the years. Weak, worn teeth can easily chip or break when eating hard foods. A facial injury from a car crash, sports game, or slip and fall can also result in one or more broken teeth. That’s where dental crowns come in. Dental crowns help repair damaged teeth so they don’t have to be extracted. Crowning a compromised tooth can make it as good as new! You can get quality dental crowns at Scenic Bluffs Dental in Prescott, Wisconsin.
Damaged teeth are not only painful, but they can also make it hard to bite and chew. A broken tooth is prone to infection and decay, as harmful bacteria can seep through the enamel’s cracks and enter your tooth’s pulp. Crowns can make damaged teeth healthy and whole again to restore your oral function.
Dental crowns are tooth-shaped caps or coverings fitted over compromised teeth for protection and support. The crown covers the whole tooth to conceal the damage and prevent further breakage. Porcelain crowns closely resemble the color and translucency of natural teeth to restore your tooth’s appearance. With proper care, quality dental crowns can last a decade or more, extending your tooth’s lifespan and usefulness.
The primary purpose of a crown is to restore your tooth’s health and usefulness. In the process, however, a crown can also restore your tooth’s appearance by concealing the damage. Your dentists, Drs. Jay Feuillerat and Samantha Clare may recommend crown treatment to restore the following:
In many cases, repairing a tooth with a dental crown can save it from extraction.
