Tooth infections should always be taken seriously. Left unchecked, the condition will only worsen and could result in you losing that tooth. We can treat your oral infection with root canal therapy at Scenic Bluffs Dental in Prescott, Wisconsin. Root canal treatment can repair your infected tooth and curtail the spread of bacteria to save your tooth from extraction.
Contrary to popular opinion, root canals are not complex, painful procedures. Drs. Jay and Clare will give you anesthesia to keep you comfortable during your treatment. The process entails drilling your infected tooth to access the infected pulp and nerves within the tooth chamber. These are removed to stop the spread of bacteria to healthy teeth. We’ll then cleanse your tooth and tooth canals of remaining bacteria and fill them with gutta-percha material to protect your tooth against future infection.
Once your tooth is filled, we’ll cover it with a dental crown to strengthen its structure. Decayed teeth are generally weak, even after treatment. A crown will fortify your tooth so it can continue to be used.
Even one decayed or damaged tooth can threaten your oral health. By eliminating the infection and repairing the damage, root canal treatment helps restore your oral health. Other oral health benefits include the following:
